WODEN SENIORS' BIG BOOK FAIR

Centre bursts with books set for fair
Hundreds of boxes filled with
books will provide the community
with more than just a good read
Thousands of titles will be on
sale at Woden Seniors Centre s
first three-day Big Book Fair to
support an upgrade of the aged
The Phillip-based centre is
bursting with reading material as
volunteers sift through thousands
of novels and picture books.
The book fair is expected to
raise $10,000 for a number of
works throughout the 1970s
This includes the installation of
a hearing loop in the main hall,
improving wheelchair accessibility
at the front entrance, a fresh lick of
paint throughout the centre and the
continued installation of new
window treatments to better
insulate the building.
President Peter McGlew said the
extra funding would take pressure
off a tight budget.
"We re a small community
organisation, we re not-for-profit,
we get minor government
contributions," he said.
"This gives us the capacity to do
things. We re trying to upgrade the
quality of the place and keep the
running costs down [so] we need

11am-6pm and Saturday and
Sunday, August 9 and 10, 10am-
4pm at 12 Corinna Street.
