In another time and in another
place, specifically the southern states
in 1960s USA, voting rights were not
available to African-Americans.
Legally, they were entitled to vote
but in reality Alabama placed
obstacles -- equivalent to asking an

minister since federation in order of
their height before voting -- in the way
of any African-American who had the
audacity to consider registering to

performances and their likenesses to

Although Selma tackles the right to
vote in the African-Americans'
struggle in the 1960s, its message
transcends time, nations and cultures.
The next time anyone thinks of
voting informally, consider that this
precious right was not always
assumed and that for some of today's
world's citizens, it is still elusive.

National Folk Festival.
The National Folk Festival has been
reimagined and this year folk revellers
