St Jude s Early Learning Centre staff
thought they were seeing double after
discovering four sets of twins were
enrolled to start kindergarten this year.
Centre director Michelle Parkes said
it was centre had not facilitated twins
since opening last March, but so far
there had been no double trouble.
"This is a first for us," she said.
"It s really great because in their
classrooms they have other sets of
twins they can identify and relate to."
Dee Sayer said her identical sons
Lucas and Thomas Anderson, 4, loved
to play the "other brother" game.
"That they are so identical which
might be a challenge for their carers
initially," she said.
"They are only four but my two like
to play the no I m the other brother
game , which is a bit cheeky."
Michael Garrety said becoming
multiple parents was a rollercoaster
ride for him and partner Meaghan
He said it was great for his identical
sons Matthew and Jacob, both 4, to
learn before beginning at primary
school that being a twin occurred in
other families too.
"Having so many others at the
preschool is a bit of a fluke," Mr
Garrety said. "We are just hoping they
will settle in well and learn they are
part of a much larger group and the
world doesn t revolve around them."
Matthew was confident on his first
day, but happy to have his best mate
and brother, Jacob, by his side in the
"Being twin means that I love
Jacob," he said.
"My mum tells me it s special to be

maintenance engineer at the mint in 1984.
"I have moved around the mint and worked in
various sections," he said.
"I worked for about nine years, left for 12 and
then came back again.
All in all I have been at the mint for 19 years
of a 31-year career."
Mr Appay said, as an extremely rare treat, the
public would be able to get up close and see the
magic of coin creation on the factory floor as

"Each coin is an artwork in itself," he said.
"People will find it really fascinating when
they come here how we sculpt our plasters and
do the coin designs."
