Sensory experiences of all kinds add flavour
to your life during January 14-16. Be careful
of imbibing the wrong type of food or drink
then, as your digestive system appears to
be sensitive. The potential for success in
career and legal matters, academics, and
travel are strong at the moment. However,
during January 15-17 introduce aggravating
obstacles that motivate you to success.
Communication will be a strong point
in Taurean associations from Tuesday
through Thursday as mutual understanding
and sympathy is easily established then.
Despite current financial constraints you
are positive about the future as you are
constructing a very solid position for
yourself. You need to remind yourself of
these facts during January 15-17.
There's a good flow of energy at work during
Tuesday through to Thursday both with
co-workers and superiors. That same energy
flow should also bring extra money your
way. The demands of work can very easily
perturb relationships with your spouse
or business partner during January 15-17,
aggravated by the need to get things done.
Keep this in mind.
Cancerians are likely to be feeling lucky
during January 14-16, whether you are about
to get a fortunate break, or some aspect of
your life is flowing very smoothly. Health and
work problems tend to dominate your mind
during January 15-17, made worse by your
weariness and heavy responsibilities. Don't
aggravate the wrong people then and attend
to your needs.
Leo loves to retreat to their den, and you'll
be feeling the inclination to do so during
January 14-16. You may also need to take a
good look at your dietary patterns. Children
may be a cause for frustration and concern
during January 15-17, and parents will need
to keep a close eye on matters. Others are
ready to assist you.
On the communications and social front,
Virgo natives will be scoring well from
Tuesday through Thursday. Schedules flow
smoothly, making life rather pleasant. The
solitude within your home is mostly welcome
and enjoyed, but you would appreciate a
little more help with your responsibilities
that may not be forthcoming during
A wonderful balance to life exists during
January 14-16, creating harmony and
pleasantries in any activity associated
with making a living. This trend assists job
applicants. January 15-17 brings a series of
frustrations with delayed plans, slow traffic,
impeded communications, and problematic
transport. By accepting and working with the
inevitable, situations are easier to handle.
Ideals, children, philosophies and romance
are all close to your heart during January
14-16. Life is creating an opportunity for you
to reflect on these precious treasures. You'll
need to check your pay packet, budget or
purchases during January 15-17. Something
is awry or missing and you best deal with
these matters as they arise.
A quick game is a good game: that's the
philosophy you embrace on January 13-15,
as you engage in recreational interests.
Sagittarius won't be missing any action!
Tuesday through Thursday brings quiet
moments in your life, causing you to reflect
on the past, values, and difficulties you've
encountered. Regrets are normal. Weariness
and financial constrictions tend to mar
Sagittarian perspectives during January 15-
17, most likely brought to your attention by
aggravations from the domestic quarter.
Capricorns are likely to be caught up in
passionate ideals during January 14-16,
perhaps because of your involvement
with another person or group of people.
Capricorn natives don't feel that their
position is strong during January 15-17,
making it a little more difficult to deal with
the activities and irritations of daily life.
The skills of Aquarian natives are easily
utilised to their benefit during January 14-16,
thrusting them into the limelight as their
talents receive exposure and are recognised.
Aquarius has their sight set on a long-term
goal at the moment but there are problems
to be overcome. January 15-17 raise some
important issues that need to be addressed.
Pisceans are in a lucky monthly cycle
during January 14-16 as the rewards of life
you so richly deserve are visited upon you.
Intellectual development is also fostered
then. Pisces currently has the potential to
reach a career peak, but situations need to
be handled appropriately as the potential to
seriously slip up is a constant. January 15-17
accentuates this trend.
FILM REVIEW: PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR
A frivolous pleasure to watch
Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private are back in Penguins of
The big screen
They were the funniest characters in
the Madagascar movies and now
Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and Private,
the penguins of Madagascar, have
their own movie.
You may want to know that the plot
involves the penguins trying to
prevent a villain, Dr Octavius Brine,
an octopus who goes by the dastardly
evil name of Dave, from kidnapping
all the penguins in all the zoos in the
The penguins are joined in their
mission to foil Dave's plan by a band
of secret agents, who collectively are
called North Wind and are led by a
husky called Classified. That's
because his real name is so secret it's,
ahem, classified. Now you know the
nature of the jokes in Penguins of
Madagascar and that's not a bad
North Wind are an unnecessary
addition to the movie because the
penguins can be frivolous and
outrageous on their own. Skipper and
Kowalski are capable of creating their
own comic moments without
However, North Wind allows the
penguins to make wisecracks at North
Wind's expense so they do have a
We also learn the story behind how
the penguins left their frozen home
and ended up in New York and how
Private joined their team.
None of that takes precedence
because it is the outlandish
personalities, inane exploits, sharp
banter and pointless escapades that
make Penguins of Madagascar a
frivolous pleasure to watch.
The animation is flawless and the
jokes and visual gags make you smile
and cringe. What more could you
want from these four flippered
In all seriousness, of which there
isn't any in this movie, the plot is not
that important. The penguins are
upfront and centre in this movie.
The penguins themselves sum up
the appeal of this movie when they
describe themselves as immeasurably

Cognitive Training for Driving
Driving involves complex cognitive
skills. As we age our information
processing speed and reaction
time naturally slows. However
some studies suggest that 'brain
training' can improve our cognitive
abilities and perhaps make us
safer drivers on the road. A new
research project at the ANU aims to
determine the effect of cognitive
