What a podiatrist can do for you
Healthy and pain-free: The Walking Clinic offers many podiatry services to help your feet feel great.
Having healthy and pain-free feet plays
an integral part in your happiness and
mobility. If you are experiencing discom-
fort with your feet even simple activities
such as getting out of bed or walking
short distances can be very difficult.
Podiatry is defined as the diagnosis,
treatment and prevention of conditions of
the human foot. Often people think seeing
a podiatrist is a big deal, and that they
need to have serious foot problems and
require a referral. This is not the case --
you can make an appointment with The
Walking Clinic to discuss any foot issues
you may have, big or small.
Talking to the podiatrists at the Walk-
ing Clinic is a good place to start if you
have concerns about any of the following
General foot pain
Fungal nail infection
Chilblains, bunions, corns and calluses
Ingrown toenails and warts
Diabetes foot care advice
And that is just a small selection of the
conditions the clinic can treat.
The Walking Clinic has been using the
ARC laser to treat fungal nail infections
since December 2012. The laser is a
method of treatment using the latest
technology and patients have been
reporting good results. Fungal nails can
be an embarrassing and uncomfortable
condition. Until now, treatments have
been used with limited success. These
range from strong tablets which can
cause unpleasant side effects to topical
creams that are inconvenient to apply.
If you suffer from this condition it is
worth having a chat with The Walking
Clinic do determine if laser therapy is
right for you.
Another new technology The Walking
Clinic uses is shockwave therapy. This is
for the treatment of Plantar Fasciitis and
other tendon conditions. It involves a
form of ultrasound shockwave which
penetrates the tissue, preventing pain
As you get older it gets harder to bend
down and actually get to your feet. At
The Walking Clinic you can simply make
an appointment to have your nails cut
and for the hard skin around your heels
and toes to be removed.
Your feet will feel like a million dollars
when you leave the clinic.
